Principal's Message
November 4, 2009
Dear Challenger Families,
November is upon us and the
weather has certainly changed. We had such a beautiful
September, but now the reality of the Northwest is here.
I was reading an
interesting book the other day Outliers: The Story of
Success by Malcolm Gladwell. The book is all about how
we can understand what makes some people more successful
than others.
One chapter caught my
attention. I will summarize it for you, but encourage you to
check out the book from the library if you haven’t had a
chance to read it. In one study in inner city Baltimore the
researcher found that students who come from difficult
economic backgrounds “out-learn” the wealthiest students
over a five year period.
