CyberSummer 2008
What is NovaNet ?
NovaNet is a computer assisted instructional program, sort of an electronic textbook. When you start a NovaNet lesson, you will usually begin with a Pre-test. This tells the program what you already know, then you only work on the material in the lesson that you do not know. When you finish the lesson there will be a Post-test to find out what you have learned.
How do I pass the Pre-test ?
You must score at least 90% to pass a pre-test. If you get a 90% score or better and NovaNet does not move you ahead, please ask an instructor to help.
What Score is Passing on the Post-Test ?
A score of 80% or above is Passing on most Post-tests. If you get a score of 80% or higher and NovaNet does not move you ahead, please ask an instructor for help.
Are all NovaNet classses like this?
Your instructor may assign some NovaNet classes that do not have pre-tests. For these classes there may only be a final exam on the material covered.
Can I get help from an instructor ?
NovaNet Lab instructors will help you with the lesson materials, but not with pre-tests or post-tests.
What if a NovaNet lesson keeps repeating itself or starting over?
If you have completed a lesson or part of a lesson at least once, see an instructor. Most often you will be moved along to the next lesson.
What if I do not pass the post-test ?
If you do not pass a post-test, please ask an instructor to review it with you. After your review, the instructor may re-assign the lesson material or the post-test.
How can I get higher scores ?
The best way to improve your NovaNet scores and make learning easier, is to take notes on the material as you go through each lesson. Use a dictionary, thesaurus, or Grammer Guidebook to help with English classes. Use a textbook to help you with math or social studies lessons.
Can I use my notes on the test?
Try the test without your notes, but refer to them if necessary.
Can I do NovaNet at home ?
NovaNet is not presently available for use on your home computer.
I forgot how to Log-on to NovaNet.
At the NovaNet log-on screen type your Group aceshs, (remember no caps), then hit the Tab key and type your last name, then a space, then your first initial; (no caps), hit return and type your password.
