WELCOME TO
CyberSummer 2008
NovaNET is a computer-assisted individualized instructional program. Students may use this program to recover credits for classes in which they may have received a Failing or No Credit grade in the past. Credit Recovery courses presume that the student has demonstrated many of the class competencies during attendance in the previous course. The coursework on NovaNET is designed to reinforce prior learning and skills. In addition to the assignments made on the computer, students may need to complete one or more off-line assignments for each credit-recovery course taken.
Required Materials
Students should come to class daily with pen/pencil and a notebook. Taking daily notes will greatly enhance student learning and the ability of students to work through the course material at a more rapid pace. Notes may be used to complete all aspects of the coursework.
Grading and Course Completion
Grading procedures and point systems are outlined in each individual NovaNET syllabus. Letter grades are assigned for successful completion of each course according to the District grading scale. It is anticipated that most students will complete all assignments for a credit-recovery course during the Summer schedule. Some coursework may take a longer period of time due to the difficulty or advanced levels of the study material. A letter grade and credit for a completed course is posted to the transcript only when the student has completed all assignments.
Classroom Management
All rules of the Student Handbook apply. No food or drink is allowed at the computer workstations. The Internet will not generally be available during class time. Inappropriate use or vandalism of computer equipment may result in loss of computer usage in the building. Students may listen to CD’s or music on a computer or player as long as volume is maintained at a level which does not disturb others. Because of the pace required to complete NovaNET classes in a timely manner, students should plan to use all classroom time appropriately.
Makeup Work.
NovaNET is not available for home use. Missed class time may be made up during regular hours if space is available, with instructor permission.
CyberLab Resources
Students may use textbooks or Library reference materials at any time to assist with NovaNET course work. The CyberLab staff will always assist with questions or problems that may arise. Please ask us if you need any help.
Please see the instructor or a staff member if you have any additional questions.
