Book review by Gerar

“And all I got to do is flush?” she said “That’s it? “That’s all you got to do,” I said. “Flush and flush often.” If you don’t know what they’re talking about, then you should read Flush, by Carl Hiaasen.

Flush, a realistic fiction book, takes place around a lake. Noah, his sister Abby, their Dad, and a lady named Shelly are trying to save a lake from being polluted by a casino boat called the Coral Queen and nobody will believe their story.

In the book, Noah’s dad goes to jail for sinking the Coral Queen because he knows that the Coral Queen is polluting the lake where the boat is and doesn’t clean up the mess. Noah and Abbey know their dad is right about the Coral Queen so they do all they can to help their dad because the cops won’t believe their story. Meanwhile, the son of the owner of the Coral Queen keeps getting in Noah’s way. He can chase him faster than a rabbit with a jet pack. While biking around some trailer park, Noah meets a lady named Shelly who thinks she can help Noah and Abbey. To get information, Shelly gets a job at the Coral Queen. Noah makes the ultimate scheme to ruin the Coral Queen that has to do with 34 Felicia food coloring (a type of purple), buckets and lots and lots of flushing.

My favorite part of the book was when Noah, Abbey, and Shelly sneak in the boat and put food coloring in the bathrooms and start flushing. When you read this book, you will learn that you should do what you think is right.

Do you think Noah will stop the Coral Queen and the bully? Read the book to find out. I recommend this book to people who like nature, or read the book Hoot (Also by Carl Hiaasen), or like suspense and wonderful schemes.
