Earth Day Grocery Bag Project

(2002 - 2009)

Working individually or cooperatively with cross-age buddies, students at Discovery participated in the sixteenth annual Earth Day Grocery Bag Project by decorating over 500 grocery bags with artwork and  messages to express their ideas about caring for our planet.  On April 22, our local Albertson's store on 128th St. SW uses these bags for customers' groceries.  Students and staff enjoy this project, and we hope to do it again next year.  Photos of some of this year's bags may be viewed online.

Literature Circle Discussion Webboard

(2000 - 2005)

Students exchange written comments as they read section by section through a common novel.  To date, participants have included students from Washington, Idaho, North Carolina, and Australia.  If you login as a guest, you can read what they've been saying.  Teacher information is also available.  Since fall 2002, the conversations have moved to the Internet Classroom Assistant.  Please contact Mr. Garrard to arrange access if you would like to join or view the discussions.
