Mission
"We
will strive to establish and maintain effective
partnerships among staff, parents and the community.
In this united effort, we will work to create and
ensure a positive and caring learning environment
in which all children can reach their potential.
We will achieve this by promoting our firm belief
that all children can learn the best educational
strategies and techniques, appropriate social and
problem-solving skills, and will respect the uniqueness
of all people and groups. We will provide a physically
and emotionally safe environment."

Discovery
introduces Mrs. Nofziger, one of our Paraeducators!
My family and me: I am wife to the kindest man in the world, mother of four children and the grandmother of two little girls. Three of my children are married, while the youngest is finishing up university this year.
My work at Discovery: I have worked at Discovery for more than seventeen years, first as a substitute teacher, now as a paraeducator
My interests/hobbies:: I swim nearly every day. I enjoy playing piano and accordion. In my dreams I am a lovely singer of sacred songs. Music of all kinds fascinates me. How do the great composers get those tunes in their heads?
What I want people to remember me for: We are all on a journey through life. It is a pleasure and privilege to share these miles with the children and adults I meet at Discovery.
What makes Discovery special? Time prints its image on all of us. Relationships make life meaningful. Relationships over time make for great meaning. As we work together towards goals, we can find meaning.
Discovery
introduces Ms. Dodson, one of our third grade
teachers!
My family and me: My parents settled in Manhattan, Kansas after my dad retired from the Army a few years ago. I have a sister, Mary, in Wichita who is married. They have a beautiful three year old boy, Michael, who is the love of my life. I also have a sister, Leslie, in Seattle who teaches 4th grade at Picnic Point Elementary here in the Mukilteo SD.
My work at Discovery:This is my 6th year teaching and all of my experience has been here at Discovery. I taught 4th grade for the first 3 years and this will be my 3rd year teaching 3rd grade.
My interests/hobbies:I love to read and watch movies. I also like to work in my garden and hang out with my friends.
What I want people to remember me for: I hope my students remember me as someone who made learning fun. I hope they remember me as fair-minded and approachable. I want to inspire all of the kids to never give up and to always keep trying their very best.
What makes Discovery special? The Discovery staff is the nicest and most dedicated group of people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. They are generous with their ideas, advice and time. The students at Discovery are great and many of them return to say hi when they have gone on to middle school, and even high school. We are a family here.
