Essential Question/Scenario

You are a fourth grade student who is in charge of deciding where to take his family on a trip across Washington. You are using the internet to research sites in Washington. You find that it's hard to read a web site. Your task is to find the facts and ignore any useless information. How will you decide what is useful information? You have to hurry, summer is almost here and your family is counting on you!

Your Task

You will create a brochure that convinces your family to go on a fun, fabulous trip across Washington. During this part, you will look for information about mountaineering (your mom's favorite sport!)
Lesson One
Step One:
Learn the different parts of a web site.
Step Two: Find each part in an
informational web site (one that tells you about Washington mountains.)
Step Three: Find each part in a
commercial web site (one that sells trips to the mountains.)
Lesson Two
Step One: Read the Bellingham quest sections Home and Scenario. Learn exactly what you're going to do to convince your family to go on this trip!
Step Two: Look at the web sites on
Road Trip through Washington (Gathering section) and use the mountain form to take notes in your own words. Save one mountain graphic.
Step Three: Use the fishing, rafting, and festival forms to take notes. Save one graphic for each form.
Follow Up
Step One: Use the decision making form to choose your travel destinations!
Step Two: Fill in your Road Trip brochure (on Road Trip through Washington.)
