Text Box: Course Expectations:
Course  Description:
Science is a cooperative experience shared jointly by individuals and the international community. IBMYP Science seeks to incorporate scientific thinking from across the world. It is a progression of asking questions, making observations, and making connections between the known and the new. The seventh grade curriculum will be based on astronomy, chemical processes, meteorology, and environmental science.
This class is designed to improve scientific inquiry skills by exploring one’s environment, asking questions, making observations, developing hypothesis, engaging in experimentation and investigations, collecting and analyzing data, drawing conclusions, making inferences, and formulating new questions. Students will learn to process data, interpret results, design experiments and handle standard lab equipment. Curriculum content has been selected with the realization that science is continuously progressing and the contemporary science curriculum is never truly stable.
Benchmarks and Essential Learning’s
In science students will: understand and use scientific concepts and principles, conduct scientific investigations to expand understanding of the natural world, apply science knowledge and skills to solve problems or meet challenges, use effective communication skills and tools to build and demonstrate understanding of science, understand how science knowledge and skills are connected to other subjects areas and real-life situations.
