PARENT INFORMATION
RED RIBBON WEEK
Red Ribbon Week is one of the oldest and largest drug prevention campaigns in
our country. By celebrating this event, we have the opportunity to take a
stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug
prevention and education and a personal commitment by them to live a drug free
life. Red Ribbon Week also commemorates the ultimate sacrifice of DEA
Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who died at the hands of drug traffickers
in Mexico while fighting the battle against illegal drugs to keep our country
and children safe.
At HPMS we expand this commitment to be drug, alcohol, and tobacco free.
Our week consists of a Kick-off Assembly on Monday, door decorating
competitions, signing pledge cards during lunches, red ribbon games during lunch
on Wednesday, and wearing red on Friday. Our theme this year is “Celebrate
Life.”
COOKIE DOUGH PICKUP
Orders are available for pickup THIS THURSDAY between 3 and 6P in the HP

BULLYING PRESENTATIONS
Our counselors will be presenting an anti-bullying lesson for our 6th
graders during their Math class on Friday.
IB PARENT SURVEY
We would appreciate input from our parents on the International Baccalaureate Program here at HP. We will use the data from this survey to make changes and improvements to our program at HP. Please complete the survey – it will only take a few minutes of your time – no later than October 27th. Thank you! THE SURVEY HAS NOW BEEN UPDATED TO ALLOW YOU TO SKIP QUESTIONS YOU ARE UNABLE TO RATE. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=GS_2bFxSxxeaHAE2UuK1_2f4Rg_3d_3d

FROM THE MUKILTEO LIBRARY
October is Teen Read Month and the Mukilteo Library is celebrating the national theme of “Read Beyond Reality” with a Liar’s Party and a visit from a palm reader! Teens and adults are invited to meet author Justine Larbalestier at our Liar’s Party to celebrate her new book Liar, a psychological thriller narrated by a compulsive liar. Dress up as someone else and be prepared to tell your best whoppers! Mocktails and finger foods will be served. Books will be available for purchase and autographing by the author. The party begins at 4P on today, October 19th.
Sheila Lyon, the Diva of Divination, will visit the library on this Thursday,
October 22nd at 4P. Teens and adults can learn the basics of palm
reading and numerology from one of America’s foremost fortune tellers. This
program is supported by the Friends of the Mukilteo Library.
