STUDENT STORE OPENS
The Hawks Nest (Student Store) opened today, Monday, and
will be open during student lunches. The store has various snacks, limited
school supplies, Hawk sweatpants, and assorted Hawk spirit items. Cash or
check only. Proceeds from the store benefit the ASB fund. Hawk Pride
Cards may be exchanged on Tuesdays only at the store for airheads and laffy
taffy treats.
PTO COOKIE SALES BEGIN
Starting this Wednesday, the PTO will begin selling freshly
baked cookies during lunches. This year, the students will find the Cookie
Bakers in the Commons. Cookies are two for a dollar and sold on Monday,
Wednesday and Thursday each week. Students have the choice of Otis
Spunkmeyer Chocolate Chip or Snickerdoodle cookies. On occasion, an
alternate cookie type is available. Proceeds from the cookie sales are
used to provide Teacher Grants, purchase pizza for the 6th grade WEB
event, teacher appreciation, and other proposals presented for funding during
the year.
MAGAZINE DRIVE/COOKIE DOUGH SALE FUNDRAISER
This Thursday during an afternoon assembly, our students
will participate in a Kick Off Assembly for our annual school fundraiser.
During our fundraiser you will have the opportunity to renew current magazine
subscriptions, buy new and gift subscriptions, and purchase the very same Otis
Spunkmeyer cookie dough your student LOVES to purchase from the PTO during
lunch! All proceeds come back to the ASB fund.
Packets will come home with your student on Thursday.
Postcard turn in will be Friday before school. There will be ONE turn in
date this year for orders – before school on Thursday, October 1st.
GREY SPORTS AND ACTIVITY SWEATSHIRTS
Long sleeved grey pullover hoody orders (either a new
sweatshirt for $30 or additional emblems for $2 per patch) are due in Student
Services or to the Athletic Director THIS FRIDAY. Forms are available in
Student Services or online (http://schools.mukilteo.wednet.edu/hp/pages/PDFforms/Sweatshirtorderform.pdf).
The option to order again will be offered during the Second Sports Season.
If your child just needs emblems added, they will need to complete the form and
bring in the sweatshirt with the form and payment.
FROM THE PTO
PTO Membership:
The HP Parent Teacher Organization is a vital and very active part of the
Harbour Pointe community. The PTO membership contribution of $15 per
family along with proceeds from various PTO fundraisers (specifically
Poinsettia/Wreath Sales in November and Otis Spunkmeyer cookies sales sold
during lunches) helps with operating expenses, books for the library, teacher
appreciation, teacher grants and other proposals presented from the funding
throughout the year. Evening meetings are held throughout the year in the
school library. Notifications of meetings and PTO events are sent via the
HP Listserv. For a copy of the membership form go to:
http://schools.mukilteo.wednet.edu/hp/pages/PDFforms/PTOMembershipformfall2009-10.pdf
PTO Directory:
To include your student’s information in the school directory, forms must be
returned to the PTO (have your student deliver the form to Student Services) no
later than October 2nd.
PTO Spirit Wear Orders:
Orders for Spirit Wear Items sold by the PTO are also due October 2nd.
Items available are found at:
http://schools.mukilteo.wednet.edu/hp/pages/PDFforms/SpiritItemsorderformpg2(2).pdf
and samples will be on display at Open House. Order forms can be printed
at
http://schools.mukilteo.wednet.edu/hp/pages/PDFforms/FALLSpirit%20Items2009-2010orderform1.pdf
and are to be turned in to the PTO Lock Box located in the
Main Office. Spirit wear will be offered again before the holidays (great
Christmas ideas!) and again in the spring.
FROM THE MUKILTEO LIBRARY
The Mukilteo Library invites middle school and high school students to join its Teen Advisory Board. Teens can join us to discuss teen concerns, help develop library programs, and meet new people—all while earning volunteer credit and having fun. The first meeting of the new school year will be on Thursday, September 17, at 7 pm—and we’ll have free pizza! The Mukilteo Library is located at 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. Students join simply by showing up and participating, but they’re not counted as full members until they attend three meetings. We meet monthly on the third Thursday of the month (unless a holiday lands on the same day). Each meeting lasts about an hour. In the last year, Teen Advisors helped plan programs, planned and presented our big Anti-Valentine party, chose the summer reading prizes, brainstormed book display ideas, helped decide which gaming equipment the library would buy, volunteered at the library’s annual carnival and children’s summer reading programs, and much more.
