KAMIAK LINK CREW

Our Purpose:
Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Link Leaders are trained to work with the incoming freshman class and other new students who are entering Kamiak next fall.  Prior to orientation, each Link Leader will be given a small group of freshmen to work with during orientation and throughout the year.  Leaders will be asked to befriend and help their “Crew” during the first months of school with any challenges they may face.  Periodically during the school year, Link Leaders will meet with their student groups to touch base, discuss problems, and plan social activities.

Who may join?
Link Leaders are upperclassmen who have been successful at Kamiak and who are good role models for younger students.

Link leaders must enroll in the Link class during either their Junior or Senior year.

How/when do you join/qualify?
You may join in Spring for the following year.

Application and Recommendation: Teachers are asked to recommend student that they feel meet the criteria to be a link leader. Those students that are recommended as well as any other student that expresses interest are asked to complete an application. Leaders are chosen be the Link coordinators with the input of administration and teachers.

We meet:
We meet for two days of training in August and for freshman orientation, all prior to the start of school. We have monthly meetings which we try to have both before and after school so that all link leaders can attend even if they are involved in many activities.

We meet in Ms. Jones' classroom.

Upcoming Activities:
We will handing out applications in March and will hold an information meeting in March for students that are interested in participating in next year's program.
