COLLEGE VISITS/COUNSELING /SCHOLARSHIPS

Counseling - Mead/Hansen

Beginning in the fall of 2008, high school ninth grade students who plan to apply for admission to any of Washington's public institutions in 2012 must earn three credits of "College Academic Distribution Requirements (CADRs)" courses each year of high school, including the twelfth grade year. The subjects are math, english, science, social science, world languages, and the arts.  Beginning in  2010, to be considered for admission to a public institution, students will be required to earn two credits of laboratory science, including one credit of algebra-based biology, chemistry or physics.  Therefore, next year's (2008-2009) eleventh grade students, if they have not already, should begin working toward meeting the requirement for two years of laboratory science.  For more information of the revised minimum college admission standards go to www.hecb.wa.gov/research/issues/admissions.asp.
