The 1st Annual
Grand Mukilteo Historical Music Symposium is being organized.
Your team has been selected as a Performance Segment Organizing (PSO) team.
PSO teams are charged with designing the individual performances at the Symposiums finale concert.
You will be working in a team of 5-6 members to select and research one composer/song to represent one of the following musical eras:
Renaissance
Baroque
Classical
Romantic
20th Century
The Symposium board has already secured a venue for the performances and musicians have been hired to accurately perform the music on period appropriate instruments while wearing the period appropriate costumes you have researched. The period art examples you have selected will also be displayed on stage during the performance.
Your presentation will need to provide the following information:
Who was this composer?
What characteristics make this song representative of the period?
What instruments will we need to provide for the musicians?
What costumes will need to be provided?
What historical events took place during this period?
What other types of art were popular at this time?
1. Choose a team of 5-6 members
2. Decide upon the musical era your team will research.
3. Select a composer and one of his/her works.
4. Each of you should choose one area of the presentation to research.
5. As a group your team will need to create a short song about your composer (12-24 bars) and notate it using “Play Music” software.
6. Your team will need to decide the format for your presentation. Either Powerpoint or a webpage
This is the Rubric for assessment of your teams performance.
