Journal Requirements

 for Mrs. Farrar's English II

• Everyone must have a spiral notebook or equivalent to use as a journal in English all year long. (Please use a separate notebook for English, and not one you use for other classes).
   
• Always begin with the date of the entry.
   
• Include the number and the title of the journal assignment
   
• Write responses thoughtfully
   
• Complete all journal assignments (even if you’re absent you are required to make it up—check the “What did I miss?” binder or the teacher calendar for the day you missed).
   
• Participate fully in every writing: Each entry should have the appearance that you made good use the allotted time (generally 5-10 minutes)
   
• Writing should demonstrate engagement in the topic
   
• Writing should be lively and fresh, include specific examples or details
   
• Share unique, original thoughts on the topic
