TUESDAY TECHNIQUE: Copy and paste this link every week for tips on various dance technique! http://signup.northwestdancecompany.com/index.php/tuesday_technique/lessons/ The Dulcineas are experiencing a wonderful start to the 2009-2010 school year! I am thrilled watching my 37 girls dance in unison in the gym and out on the football field! We finally have our competition dates. All competitions take place on Saturdays, and they tend to take up most of the day. Here are our dates: January 16, Edmonds-Woodway; January 23, Salute to Spirit, Comcast Arena; February 6, Eastlake; February 27, Interlake; March 6, Districts @ Kamiak; March 25-26, State, Yakima. It's possible that we'll compete at Kentridge on January 30, but I'm going to try to avoid that, since we would then compete for four consecutive weeks, and I think those of us over 18 will likely lose our minds if we're subjected to the throbbing beat of hip-hop music that much. :) Any candidate for State will need to have full splits on both sides; will need to execute a solid double-pirouette, and will need to execute either multiple fouette turns or turns a la seconde. We gave the girls lots of tips and exercises for these skills over the summer, but they might not practice without prodding! I'd love to put a huge group out on the floor! Fall season is Fundraising Central for the Dulcineas. We've already fed the bandlings and served the Lighthouse Festival crowd. We are currently selling Entertainment Books. We are on the verge of selling coffee beans and notepads. We're working on our annual spaghetti dinner. The Krispy Kremes will appear in December. If you can give your time to ANY of these fundraisers, we will greatly appreciate you! Important Upcoming Dates: Wednesday, October 30 Homecoming Parade Friday, October 2 Football Halftime Thursday, October 8 Booster Meeting Thursday, October 15 Spaghetti Dinner Friday, October 23 Football Halftime
