This is a class designed to instruct students in the fundementals of acoustical guitar playing. Students will learn to read
tablature and music notation while exploring a veriety of musical styles. Folk, classical, jazz, and some popular music will
be included. No prerequisite - previous experience with playing guitar is not required. Occassional homework is required.

Prerequisite: Two semesters of Beginnning Guitar, audition, and/or teacher permission
A variety of musical styles including folk, blues, rock, classical, and jazz will be explored with a
focus on ensemble development. All entering students must be able to play chords in first position,
barred chords, power chords, moveable chords, as well as moveable major, minor, pentatonic, and blues
scales. Students must be able to read tablature and demonstrate an understanding of rhythmic notation.
Students will explore advanced strumming and solo techniques and demonstrate competency through performance.
